Flora Botanica

FloraBotanica

Mary Katrantzou print dress / H&M glitter pumps / Nicole Romano earrings

This is my Flora Botanica inspired look. Ever since I smelled Balenciaga’s new fragrance I wanted to add it to my collection. I have to say though, the way Kristen Stewart explained what it would be like (as the face of the perfume) I wasn’t sure what to think. But I’m glad I popped into the shop and had a smell myself. The dress is pretty much a visualisation of what the perfume is to me. And unfortunately, it’s a little outside of my price range otherwise I would have added it too to my collection. I’ll just have to settle for smelling like Flora Botanica instead.

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

So I’m sure you’ve seen the Maison Martin Margiela collection for H&M on many other blogs, but I wanted to share my favourite picks so far here. I can say that I love these looks in their entirety (with the exception of that creepy glove bag, wtf?). The coat (last pic) is really on my wish list, and seeing as it’s my birthday 3 days after the collection launches, I might treat myself to a little gift if it looks good on me.

Wishing you all a happy weekend for now, on Monday I’ll let you know about my plans for the blog.

Random Inspiration

Images from Soraya Bakhtiar, Andre Ermolaev, and the last I forgot where I got it from :(

Now as the title might suggest, this is about random inspiration. I still have the habit of saving an image onto my computer rather than sharing it on for example Pinterest. I guess I’m still not used to this whole modern day sharing every single thing. The first one is a photograph of an outfit of Soraya Bakhtiar that is simply to die for. Also the prices of the items she’s wearing would kill my budget for the next couple of months come to think of it. But it’s stunning. The second is landscape photograph by Andre Ermolaev, who truly captures some truly amazing landscapes. I might actually do a whole post on his work, it’s worth it! And the last photograph caught my attention in its simplicity and how I would imagine a small London apartment of some sorts. Lots of light bouncing off the crisp white walls, and look at the radiator! Bronze!

I’m off to have some hot chocolate, crawl under the covers and watch GG. Winter is a coming. I tell you this.

The Tomboy

Not many words needed for this. I would just love to wear it. It wouldn’t be something I would usually go for seeing as I am not really a jeans & t-shirt kind of girl, but the Prada Earrings and Neon heels make up for that. Perfection. Perfection I say.

Claire + Bruce T-shirt
Adriano Goldsmied Ex-Boyfriend Jeans (how symbolic!)
Zara Shoes
Chaneal Neon Skull Bracelet
Rag & Bone Sunglasses
Prada Rose Earrings

Mignight Craving

These off white sandals from Céline are my midnight craving. Well, perhaps not only midnight. All day. All night. Everyday.

Photoshop Love

Remember how I had a shot of me wearing vintage earrings? I had a play around with it in Photoshop and this is the result. It’s so different! It’s not the greatest of images I agree, but I like that it’s so dark! I played with levels, curves, greyscale and noise. I find it fascinating what you can do with software nowadays! I only recently started actually editing my photographs for the blog, but I’m looking for all sorts of tutorials online to help me with it! I wanted to give the photograph and ‘analogue’ feel (which for someone who wrote her Master’s thesis on the death of photography … it’s quite an issue!). I’ve been too scared to use my vintage Canon, that’s maybe why!

Midnight Cravings

These are some of the things I am really craving at the moment. Short and simple. They could go together as an outfit, although I didn’t pick them as such.

H&M knee length pleated skirt
Rocket Dog leopard print shoes
Canvas handbag
Michael Kors jewelry
Dorothy Perkins mesh jewelry
MONO ME cross jewelry

Summer Wishes

I found myself browsing polyvore for some summer inspiration and quickly put together this cute combo. This is for the luxury princess in me, I need to find something similar minus the price tag. I like the colours purple and orange together, I painted my bedroom wall a deep shade or purple and I’ll hopefully be adorning the walls with orange posters and what not. This combination reminds me of fresh orange juice, and summer of course! What are your go-to colours?

1. Dolce Gabbana sweetheart neckline dress
2. Lanvin wedge heels
3. Designers Remix summer hat

Spaces I love

Since Pinterest there is no need for me to store my inspirational photographs on the harddrive of my computer. I thought I’d share with you some of the photographs that I have collected over the past months – they scream luxury and make me want to redecorate my house. Speaking of, I’m working on revamping bits & bobs in my house. It’s probably a long-term project, but I have some exciting projects in mind!

Love Locks: Paris

I just spent an amazing time in Paris. Here are a few snapshots of the Pont des Arts in Paris. It’s such a magical place, and to think I had never ever been there – even after visiting Paris five plus times! Anyway, aside from the obvious radio silence still going on on the blog, I am still alive and almost done with my thesis – all I need to do is officially defend it, and then, FINALLY I will be done. Anyway, enough of my thesis talk! I dedicate this post to all the lovers out there; go visit the Pont des Arts and the Louvre (which is quite close by) and give in to your romantic side. I know you want to.

Onzin Design

During the NYE celebrations, I noticed that the dinner-party host was wearing this necklace. It’s called Tranen van Verdriet, Tran van Geluk which means, Tears of Grief, Tears of Joy. It’s available at Onzin Design. I think it’s not only a beautiful necklace but also a beautiful concept. What do you think?

New in Town: Frenchonista Clutches

As you might know, I usually like to keep my work separated from my blog. However, I had to share this with you! My friend Samia is launching her own brand of clutches. I am super excited for her, and even more thrilled that I can help her out with her launch party. Soon I will be able to post about the wonderful photoshoot we had with famous Dutch photographer Joost van Manen, Fashion Blogger Debbie Nuchelmans and You-Tube guru NikkieTutorials (both sweethearts!).

About Frenchonista:

The trendy up and coming brand Frenchonista is the creation of cosmopolitan French Fashionista, Samia Taika.

The adventure started with just one Frenchonista clutch: a simple yet elegant design, handcrafted in Morocco: Samia’s second home. The clutch was spotted on famous Dutch blogger Sabrina Meijer from AfterDRK, Linda Tol from LifeStylehunters and Dutch actress Carolien Spoor. After this, Frenchonista became rather popular among fashonistas in the Netherlands as well as abroad.

All Frenchonista clutches are part of a limited edition collection. The Frenchonista clutch can be the finishing touch to anyone’s outfit. A great fashionista is properly dressed, knows what to wear, but more importantly knows how to accessorize. In various colours and styles, shapes and sizes, the Frenchonista clutch fits everyone with every style on every occasion.

Frenchonista clutches are fashionable, yet their design allows for them to be a true classic for many years to come. A Frenchonista clutch should be a personal ‘treasure’ that you cherish as if it would last forever.

Samia Taika was born in Normandy, France. She now lives in Amsterdam, in the popular neighbourhood “De Pijp”. During her international career in the IT industry Samia always dreamt of designing her own line of high quality and fashionable accessories. Finally in 2011 she made her dream come true: her own brand Frenchonista was born.

Stay tuned for updates about Frenchonista!
