Flora Botanica

FloraBotanica

Mary Katrantzou print dress / H&M glitter pumps / Nicole Romano earrings

This is my Flora Botanica inspired look. Ever since I smelled Balenciaga’s new fragrance I wanted to add it to my collection. I have to say though, the way Kristen Stewart explained what it would be like (as the face of the perfume) I wasn’t sure what to think. But I’m glad I popped into the shop and had a smell myself. The dress is pretty much a visualisation of what the perfume is to me. And unfortunately, it’s a little outside of my price range otherwise I would have added it too to my collection. I’ll just have to settle for smelling like Flora Botanica instead.

Alexandra Dodds Jewellery

What better way to kick of my new approach to love&labels than by introducing something that is very dear to my heart: jewellery and fine art. While browsing Facebook (which I admit is sometimes a lot better than just the web, although secondary to Pinterest) I stumbled upon these photographs from Alexandra Dodds.

Naturally, being intrigued I wanted to see more and boy am I glad I did. Just look at the magnificat jewellery she’s made! I find it abstract and yet ever so recognizable as something natural and organic. In plated gold and silver they look beautiful on their own, but are supposed to be worn en masse to make some sort of a sculpture on your hands. Gorgeous! The New Zeeland based jewellery-artist (as I like to call her) ‘explores the possibilites of found objects’. I couldn’t find the exact prices, nor where they are sold, but from 250 euros onwards would be my guess.

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

So I’m sure you’ve seen the Maison Martin Margiela collection for H&M on many other blogs, but I wanted to share my favourite picks so far here. I can say that I love these looks in their entirety (with the exception of that creepy glove bag, wtf?). The coat (last pic) is really on my wish list, and seeing as it’s my birthday 3 days after the collection launches, I might treat myself to a little gift if it looks good on me.

Wishing you all a happy weekend for now, on Monday I’ll let you know about my plans for the blog.

Let there be light.

Sigh.

The Jeans. And Céline.

Chic width=

I’ve been drawn to the casual chic look lately. I wish I had these items in my closet, or similar items for that matter of fact! It seems that my ban on jeans which had been going strong for around 5 years was finally broken this year when I bought a pair of boot cut jeans. Now, all I want to browse through on sites / look at when shopping are jeans. I do have a problem though, I can’t seem to find the perfect pair. Or let me state that more specifically: I find that almost all jeans look horrible on me. I’ll have to do something about that. I’ll also have to do something about saving up for a Céline bag. In black. It will me mine soon! I hope. What about you? Do you wear jeans? Or would you rather wear dresses?

Mignight Craving

These off white sandals from Céline are my midnight craving. Well, perhaps not only midnight. All day. All night. Everyday.

Pre-order Heaven

I had been looking for these for a while now. When I was in Paris, I went to all the stores that sold Karen Walker sunglasses hunting for these! I didn’t find them, despite driving my friend crazy “just one store, I promise, they have to be here!” And so I kept an eye on online sites and what not, determined to get my hands on them. Finally, last night I caved and pre-ordered these! I am so excited to receive them, I’ll have to wait until June/July though which is a shame, but well worth the wait.

Have you ever pre-ordered anything? Did you have the patience to wait for it?

Dannijo Love

I was browsing the internet and came across this beautiful collar necklace by Dannijo. I’ve seen a couple of the designer duo’s pieces on Gossip Girl (correct me if I am wrong) and I must say that I think they are very beautiful. For this particular bib necklace, the price is $745 so I thought I look around and see if I can find something a little more affordable. Above you’ll find a collage of some of the pieces from an Etsy shop called Martsys and the pieces range from $11 to $50 which is considerably a lot cheaper. I am also considering doing a DIY project by painting old rhinestone necklaces but I’ve first got to finish my neon spray paint project! I’ll keep you updated on how that goes, I can tell you one thing – I am not a very patient person when it comes to those things. I just can’t wait until the paint dries!

Summer Wishes

I found myself browsing polyvore for some summer inspiration and quickly put together this cute combo. This is for the luxury princess in me, I need to find something similar minus the price tag. I like the colours purple and orange together, I painted my bedroom wall a deep shade or purple and I’ll hopefully be adorning the walls with orange posters and what not. This combination reminds me of fresh orange juice, and summer of course! What are your go-to colours?

1. Dolce Gabbana sweetheart neckline dress
2. Lanvin wedge heels
3. Designers Remix summer hat

Boticca Designer: Claire English

I’m always browsing the internet for new and upcoming designers – or rather, the things that they make. A couple of months ago I came across Boticca and was utterly surprised by the amount of designers they have on their website. What’s more important is that most of what you see on the site is very unique as there are a limited amount of items per designer available. I love having unique things. Don’t get me wrong, I sure am a Zara/H&M kind of girl as well – but I do also hate the idea of being a sheep if you know what I mean. In any case, I figured I would share some of my favourite designers once in a while! I want to start off with Claire English. You can find her designs here. Her story:

All of the jewellery that I make is luxurious, contemporary and very special. My unmistakably English designs are inspired by the narrative potential of the objects that surround us. The whimsical philosophy that i design with combines my interest in wonderment, curious, collage and fine craftsmanship. I mix this up with an irreverent sense of humour to create magical and witty pieces. I see myself as a 21st Century bricoleur who is adept at presenting familiar items in mischievous and unexpected ways.

The photographs above are a selection from her collection online at the moment. I love the bubble necklaces because you can actually use them! How fun is that? Each piece comes with its own story, that you can find in the description box on the Boticca site.

I’ve actually never considered jewelry to be multi-functional in that kind of way. Some of her other items are inspired by the ‘darker’ things in life such as the skull of a mouse or a magpie bone and although I must admit that they are a little creepy, I do find them very beautiful. They certainly are mischievous as Claire explains! I also find that the pieces remind me a little bit of ready-mades, a trend in art history where everyday objects were presented as art – just as they were. The most famous example is from Duchamp and his urinal which has since become very famous in its own right. I feel that Claire is appropriating this tradition in turning the everyday “whimsical” into beautiful jewelry.

Most of the pieces are made of 24K Gold Vermeil (sometimes on Solid Sterling Silver) and the prices range from €169 to €573,50 which isn’t cheap. Then again, we are talking about luxury pieces here. Unique luxury pieces. Ready-made artistic pieces.

Have you checked out Boticca yet? Do you have any favourite designers? Would you like me to write about my favourites more often, perhaps also from other shops?

Spaces I love

Since Pinterest there is no need for me to store my inspirational photographs on the harddrive of my computer. I thought I’d share with you some of the photographs that I have collected over the past months – they scream luxury and make me want to redecorate my house. Speaking of, I’m working on revamping bits & bobs in my house. It’s probably a long-term project, but I have some exciting projects in mind!

Monogram..

Here is a sneak preview of something I just ordered. I fell in love with the scripted monograms whilst browsing the internet for inspiration. Usually a monogram is three initials, and seeing as I have four – CKFC – I just had to include them all, I had no preference for one letter you might say. It would be a little weird even to suddenly miss a letter. In any case, this was designed by Ely Goldart and I just can’t wait to show it to you in real life. But what is it… a ring, a bracelet, a necklace, or some earrings perhaps? You’ll just have to wait and see!
