Fancy Smancy

I just wanted to quickly share with you this photo shot by Jeroen Snijders, international runway photographer. It was shot tonight at a bloggers event hosted by the wonderful Cream PR. Most of it is my own outfit except the orange shirt which is from MinkPink and the belt (I think from Summum Woman). I had meant to style the belt differently, but in the excitement of it all I just forgot about it. My blazer is from Theory by Theyskens and one of my best buys in New York, the trousers are by Red Herring.

It must have been at least 10 years since I’ve had a ‘professional’ shoot. The last time it was as a try-out to become a model, you know the ones where you pay 250 euros, get a bunch of shitty photos and then never get the ‘you’ve been discovered!’ callback. Oh well. That really wasn’t meant to be my career path anyway.

Fifty Shades of Black

Photos Aldona Bermudez

This must have been the coldest outfit shoot ev-er! It was shot this past weekend when the temperatures dropped below zero, but felt as if they had drop below -10. And the wind was like ice spikes! I couldn’t resist titling this post ‘Fifty Shades’ because I really only just realised how many different shades of black there can be when I wore a few together. Oh and one shade of bright neon pink of course. I’ve never really wear all black so it was nice to step outside of my ‘comfort zone’. You can guess where the beanie is from, the leather gloves are from H&M, jacket David Bitton and you can’t really see but I am wearing a dress, a jumper and a hundred other layers.

New York Minute

Did you miss me? No? I can understand, my presence is like the wind – here a minute and then gone the next. Pretty much the same wind that messed up my hair in the second photograph. These snapshots where taken by a friend who I met up with when I was in New York. I really like the first photograph – precisely because the focus is off. As a quick update; I just spent two wonderful and magical (albeit busy) weeks in New York. I haven’t really unpacked yet and not even sifted through my photos, but I hope to share some snapshots with you soon. I didn’t get to do a lot of shopping but I bought the jumper and blouse at J. Crew. It was love a first site. The skirt is from Zara and the sunglasses from Prada. The Spring is coming (they say!) which means more hours of sun, and hopefully more time to shoot outfit pictures.

Ice Ice Baby

I thought it would be fun to take outfit photographs when it was minus 2 degrees. Oh and it was fun alright. I could swear I almost lost all my fingers, it felt that cold. And it was windy too, as you can see in almost all of the photographs I’m trying to stop my hair from sticking to my lipgloss. Regardless, I’ve worn this outfit a couple of times now (yes, repeat offender!) and I just love its simplicity. Did I already mention that I love my new shoes?

Next week I’m off to New York! Very excited, so prepare for an overload of cityscapes!

Snow and Wind

“You should look like it’s cold” was one of the remarks from my photographer today. Yes, it was. And although the photograph doesn’t really show much of my outfit – it shows the exact expression I pull when it’s cold and windy. Perhaps not very charming, but I can guarantee you that the other photographs weren’t any better (read: ‘winter’ frizz hair, half closed eyes.. you get the picture). So here’s to funny faces & great shoes.

Being a green gnome

Just before it started to rain we snapped these simple photos. My friend said that I looked like a gnome with the hat on and I have to agree. But seeing as it was a horrible day, I’m glad that I could brighten it up a bit by being a green ‘gnome’. And a happy one at that! I was given the H&M divided jacket by the lovely Debbie because it didn’t fit her – and I love love love  it! Thanks Deb! The scarf is vintage, the jeans are from New Look I think (never wear jeans – I was actually first wearing my beloved H&M zebra mini skirt, until the temperatures dropped), the beanie is from American Apparel, the tee from Brandy&Melville and the shoes are from Zara.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for a wonderful birthday weekend! On Sunday  I turned 26 and spent it with great people. I wore the most amazing dress from H&M so I hope to share that with you guys soon.

Have a great evening!

Just being a ’20s badass

I shot this photograph a good couple of months ago. I never posted it because I thought I looked like a total ’20s badass. It’s got this kind of gangster vibe about it but then it’s made kind of retro-funky with the Ray Ban sunglasses. And the reason I am posting it tonight? Because I just feel kind of badass. Even though I wouldn’t wear this combo again (both pieces by H&M a great separately) I think it’s great to share those not-so-cool outfits that I actually wore. Because sometimes it takes looking back at a photograph to be able to say: what were you thinking? By then though, everybody who saw you that day already thought it, you were just late to the party.

Autumn & Burgandy

Oh how I love the colours of Autumn! Snapped these today with the most beautiful sky, I wish I could share that with you too but the camera just wouldn’t capture it the way I wanted. On a completely different note; these shoes by Guess are pretty difficult to walk in. I bought them in New York more than a year ago, but never wore them. Not only because I am pretty tall, but I just feel like a fool on stilts. I managed to walk down the street to take these photographs, and that was pretty much it. I know it’s all practice makes perfect but I really admire *envy* people who can walk ik high high heels.

They say winter is coming

Staring out into the distance, I look very worried about winter coming. My friend managed to capture these pictures just before the sun set and a huge rain cloud spoiled our shopping trip. Alright, I lie, we were already done shopping. As you can see with the speckles, my camera had a hard time capturing the image. I like it though, it has something very raw, edgy and grungy about it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Warm and Blue

Oops, sorry about the lack of posting! While I was busy really thinking about the blog behind the scenes, wondering what to do with it – I actually just forgot to blog. But I guess you’re used to that by now. These wonderful pictures were taken by Debbie after we had lunch at Bagels&Beans last Saturday. A big shout-out to her for the amazing shots!

I am in lurrrvee with her lens – a 50 mm F1.4. I can tell you now that I am saving up to get me one of those! The only downside is that I also would need to buy a new camera, as I have a smaller SLR. I think it’s about time too for that though, I’ve had my current camera for over 3 years now and used it a lot. The poor thing almost winces every time I grab it for a shoot.

As for the blog – what I can briefly tell you is that I plan to write more, post about Art and photography as well as fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Going back to the roots - this blog is about the things I love. Being so focused on trying to figure out what I wanted to do, I realised I wasn’t doing those things that I loved. Simple. Expect more from me. Expect more from love&labels.

Thinking about CERN

This was taken a while back when I was in Geneva, visiting CERN. As you can see I am deep in thought, thinking about all those little atoms and particles that are to be found there. My outfit reflects my needed comfort in the airplane as well as that of site-seeing later when I arrived. The weather was so nice that I didn’t even need a pair of tights, which I quickly abandoned the next day. Skirt from Zara and tee from Maison Scotch. Pair it with wild hair and you’re good to go. Like I said, I’m the worst kind of fashionable tourist. Off now to watch a bunch of TV shows – the season has started again!

Catching the very last rays

A very good night to you all! Can you see that I haven’t been sleeping much? I should have photoshopped my bags under my eyes ;) I won’t bore you with anymore woes about my Instagram article. Let’s get straight to the outfit (shoot). And yes, let me beat you to it – shooting in September with no jacket on is rather cold. My friend took these lovely pictures and we just caught the very last sun rays, which made it an interesting shoot – trying to find good lighting. My camera has been acting up lately though, refusing to focus and sometimes even to shoot. Time to save for a new one! I think if I would wear this outfit again I would pair everything with a leather skirt instead of the polka dots. It would have given much more of a contrast with the vest. The little flower in the earrings (H&M) was a dead on match with my lipstick (Dior) which was, I think, a very nice albeit subtle touch.

Enough about outfits for now, I’m off to watch a RomCom!
