I just wanted to quickly share with you this photo shot by Jeroen Snijders, international runway photographer. It was shot tonight at a bloggers event hosted by the wonderful Cream PR. Most of it is my own outfit except the orange shirt which is from MinkPink and the belt (I think from Summum Woman). I had meant to style the belt differently, but in the excitement of it all I just forgot about it. My blazer is from Theory by Theyskens and one of my best buys in New York, the trousers are by Red Herring.

It must have been at least 10 years since I’ve had a ‘professional’ shoot. The last time it was as a try-out to become a model, you know the ones where you pay 250 euros, get a bunch of shitty photos and then never get the ‘you’ve been discovered!’ callback. Oh well. That really wasn’t meant to be my career path anyway.

This must have been the coldest outfit shoot ev-er! It was shot this past weekend when the temperatures dropped below zero, but felt as if they had drop below -10. And the wind was like ice spikes! I couldn’t resist titling this post ‘Fifty Shades’ because I really only just realised how many different shades of black there can be when I wore a few together. Oh and one shade of bright neon pink of course. I’ve never really wear all black so it was nice to step outside of my ‘comfort zone’. You can guess where the beanie is from, the leather gloves are from H&M, jacket David Bitton and you can’t really see but I am wearing a dress, a jumper and a hundred other layers.

Did you miss me? No? I can understand, my presence is like the wind – here a minute and then gone the next. Pretty much the same wind that messed up my hair in the second photograph. These snapshots where taken by a friend who I met up with when I was in New York. I really like the first photograph – precisely because the focus is off. As a quick update; I just spent two wonderful and magical (albeit busy) weeks in New York. I haven’t really unpacked yet and not even sifted through my photos, but I hope to share some snapshots with you soon. I didn’t get to do a lot of shopping but I bought the jumper and blouse at J. Crew. It was love a first site. The skirt is from Zara and the sunglasses from Prada. The Spring is coming (they say!) which means more hours of sun, and hopefully more time to shoot outfit pictures.

Just having a play with my new camera and *ahem* photoshop. Despite the snowy weather here (note, nothing compared to Nemo) tomorrow I’ll be taking some outfit shots with a friend. Finally. It’s been a while, but I can tell you – having a 9-5 job in the winter just doesn’t work out when you want to shoot outfit photos. The sun sets just too damn early. I experimented like crazy last night to see if I could take some shots inside, alas. I’m just too darn tall and I shouldn’t even be trying with a portraiture lens. #doomedtofail Oh yes, I hashtagged it. And then I invented a new verb.

Have a great weekend!

It’s February already and I swear it feels as if I am still getting over the holidays. Is it me? Perhaps. I honestly didn’t realise I had been away from the world of blogging and social networks until a. I couldn’t remember my Twitter password and b. I couldn’t remember what size the photographs on my blog are. Major fail if you ask me.

On to happier things! I thought I’d share with you my favourites of the past couple of months. Yesterday I bought a new camera, and I’m so incredibly happy with it that I just want to go around and shoot everything. So at #1 on my favourites list is my new Nikon D90 with a 50 mm 1.4f lens. Heaven. It’s not featured in the photo, but I took the photograph with it. So that counts.

Since August of last year I’ve been using Philosophy Hope in a Jar non-stop. And my skin loves it. The smell takes a little getting used to, but other than that it seems to be working miracles on my skin. A little hope goes a long way …

My go-to scrub has been the St. Ives one. I like my scrubs to actually feel like they are, well, scrubbing. This one does -and – as an added bonus my skin feels super soft. Love.

I’m addicted to perfume. I have a ton of bottles and samples and I have two scents that I made myself. But for the first time ever I’ve been reaching for the same scent a couple of days in a row. It’s Donna by Trussardi. It has top notes of yuzu, lemon, and watery fruits, orange blossom, jasmine tea and lotus in the heart and white patchouli, cedar, sandalwood and vanilla in the base notes. A combination of fruit and wood are always good in my books!

Lastly, after seeing a number of reviews of the Real Techniques brushes I decided to try out a few of my own. My favourite so far is the blush brush – it looks and feels (as one would imagine) like a bunny’s tail. What’s perfect is that you can build up the colour without it being too visible.

I am still alive! And very well at that too! I just wanted to share with you two images that have made my week complete: my article on Instagram was finally published and I received a wonderful hardcopy, and, I went to the book signing of Scott Schuman a.k.a. The Sartorialist. I’ve been doing quite a bit of thinking (and eating, you know, with the holidays and all) and trying to find out what this blog means to me/ what I want to do with it. No surprise there. I’m off to Paris on Thursday, so in the hours on the train I’ll be typing up some columns that have a lot to do with why I started this blog in the first place, namely for love and labels. Again no surprise there either. Anyway, it feels good to see the backend of my blog – it’s been too long!

Ps. If anyone is interested in my article, please do contact me – I’ll send you a copy!
